Default Shaved Ra1 tire life?

Well after this weekend (2 track days) and over 600 miles of highway driving I did some damage to my tires. I can see the beginning of a cord on the left rear. It's almost a slick now.

Is it ok to swap the rear tires left to right (even though they are clearly marked L & R)?

I am not sure how much life I have left. Take a look and let me know what you think??

were those the first two track days for this set of tires? I usually get 6-8 days plus street driving to a set of tires.

I've got about 8 on mine already and there's still no cording. Mine have WAY LESS visible tread than yours. Mine look like complete slicks. How come yours are cording and mine aren't???

Looks like too much pressure with the center wearing out and the tread remaining. It could be compounded by the alignment (toe in.)

Yes, first 2 days

The right rear and the fronts don't look so bad.

On friday I may have gotten the rears a bit hot (45 PSI) and had some sliding before I bled them down.

Right Rear

Yes, that could be it, sigh.

I need to check the alignment. If its off I am going to have some words with the race shop that just did it in March.

It's kind of hard to really look at the tread at the circuit, since I would pick up a million rocks driving back to the pits after each run.

those tires should have 6-7 days left. You've got too much pressure in them. 31 rear, 33 front (hot) is what I run and I've never had wear like that in the center. Shaved RA-1s will last 8-10 track days plus all the freeway driving in between. Except for the balding in the middle those look like new.

If it were just too much pressure i would expect that wear pattern to carry all the way around the tire. As it appears to only be that one spot i'd say you flat spotted your tire while running too much pressure. Does the tire feel well balanced? Did it feel well balanced when you started off with it new?

I wonder if they were improperly shaved. From the looks of them, it doesn't look like you drove very hard.

Hmmm... also, what shape are your rear rotors in? If you have a major hot spot on the left rear rotor it may be causing it to stick at a paticular spot in its rotation. Is the ABS much easier to activate now than before?
