Going into 2nd from 3rd. Note that going into 2nd from 1st or 3rd gear has a specific hand position, different from going into 4th gear from 3rd or 5th. This is the key to this technique as your hand/brain will associate 2nd and 4th gear with different hand positions. "

Does this mean when you downshifting from 5th to 4th gear, you use the back hand method also? Since this website says the hand/brain will associate 2nd and 4th gear with different hand positions?

Thanks

How many of you guys use this method?

I was just thinking abt it, and i realized that at the track, i subconsciously do that technique for the most part. On the street is a different story though.

I think i would be shifting a little differentl if my knob sat lower than oem. (I have the skunk2)

I almost do the same, except for the middle gears my palm is on top of the stick instead of being on one side or the other. Then I push or pull depending if i'm going into 3rd or 4th.

Interesting. Ive always done something similar most positions are almost the same for me with little variations, I suppose I subconciously thought along the same line as the author of this article did, cool.

exactly, when you have a shifter that centers itself all you really need to do is push up and let the shifter center itself.

on my buddy's mustang the limp dick shifter doesn't center itself so it's a little different but it just takes a couple shifts to get used to it.
