Small Tire Trailer A Bad Idea?
Hey all, I'm in need of a trailer for the divisional coming up in two weeks. Harbor Freight is backordered on the trailer with the larger wheels. Would it be a bad idea to use the smaller tire trailer? If so, explain please.
thanks, matt

I use the trailer with the small wheels and it works great. I've taken it on a 1000 mile trip at 80 miles an hour with no problems. I carry 17" wheels with 245/275's and all the tools. I do carry a spare trailer tire just to be safe, and haven't needed it yet in two years. So don't worry about the small tires.

Yeah, I was going to actually get the trailer from Norther Tool today. I didn't see the larger wheeled version on their site. I was just going to buy the small wheeled one but I'll look around for the big wheeler.
Also, how do people address the tail light wiring? Do you guys typically just tap into the s2k harness by the rear lamps?

Here is the trailer you need! Great people to deal with and quick shipping!

Look in the FAQ section for this forum for an interesting discussion of track trailers.
I would absolutely get the larger tires, if not at purchase, add them later. They allow the wheels to turn lower RPMs, increasing the duty cycle of the bearings.
As sugested above, repack the bearings. In my new Northern Tool trailer, the bearings only had a meager amount of grease.
The FAQ I wrote on trailer construction, hitch instsallation and trailer wiring is gone again. hopefully it will be reinstated as I put a lot of effort into it and many people have found it to be helpful.

This is the 832TA from the link in my previous post.

Thanks to Reedz and coral doc I am styling at auto x with this set up. I use smaller wheels on sailboat trailers to make loading boats eazier. Since those wheels get wet the grease issue is HUGH. Get bearing buddies and pack the bearings before every big trip and the small wheels will out last the trailer. Also see if Mr. Hammerly thru Ricks' is selling the Hammerly hitch & Trailer. His tire trailer is Pimp and will cost a lot more than the northerntool/ Harbour Freight one.
