Default So I'm going for an alignment on Thursday...

Nothing like cutting it close...I'm getting the car properly aligned Thursday morning then heading to BW.

The car is on stock suspension and I'll be running PSC's 225/245 with the stock bar. I'm not really concerned about tire wear on the street. My thoughts were to set the car up as follows:

Front camber -1.5*
Front toe 0"
Front caster 6*

Rear camber -2.5*
Rear toe in: 1/8"

I'm not sure whether I'm going too aggressive with the camber. The car was really loose last week on a factory "alignment" with the same tire combination. I know that I really should have a larger front bar for the 225s up front but that will have to wait. I can't believe that it alone will make a radical difference in behavior and I'm gambling that a proper alignment will bring some measure of much-needed stability to the car.

Thoughts?

JP, those are good settings. But I was thinking that since you don't have a big front bar you might want a little less grip up front, and your car is a daily driver so less aggressive setting all around for street wear, so make the front camber around -1.0 and rear around -2.0. This is where people typically start anyway until you become faster through the turns, where more camber is needed to maintain maximum contact patch when the car is leaning accordingly. With too much camber for a given speed you are actually reducing contact patch and grip. You might even try less front camber because of the stock bar, like -0.8 front and -2.0 rear. I'd be interested in what others think too.
Oh, I'd go with 1/4" rear toe for a little more control, though 1/8" is still acceptable.

JP I can get you a saner bar

And I agree w/ Richard for the stock bar alignment.

W/ a sway bar go closer to 0 toe in the rear, with the stock bar and 225/245 I'd run closer to 1/4" in, but 1/8th might work too for you.

Front toe should be 0.

You guys are killing me. I'm already pulling the damn seat from the car so I can take rims/tires to the track. How'm I gonna drag home the old swaybar with a car and trunk full of stuff already?

BTW, what's the recipe for taking 4 rims/tires to the track without a rack or trailer?

1 in the trunk 3 in the passenger seat area.

If you plan to run w/o the seat at the track, you should get the alignment done w/o it in. Also make sure they ballast your tubby ass in the drivers seat w/ some sort of weight.

If you really want/can afford the sway bar let me know, I can bring it w/ me to Vegas next week.

Welp if I'm pulling the seat to haul the rims then I guess I'll be running without it as well. Good point about the alignment and seat. Guess I'll pull it on Weds night so I can get it aligned in the morning. Of course that will all go out the window if it rains on Thursday

I want the bar but I'm going to hold off on it for now; I actually don't want to change too many things at once because that makes it hard to keep track of what worked and didn't etc. I need a good baseline to start with so I'll make that the current tire setup with a new alignment and then work from there. I'm sure by the time I'm ready for the bar you'll have gotten more in. (famous last words)

JP --

Where are you getting the car alligned on Thursday? I will be in Las Vegas for the SEMA show and I'd like to stop by when your car is getting alligned. I will be heading to TWS next weekend and should really get my car alligned as well.

Ry --

Are you also going to SEMA? I'm staying at the Sahara Tuesday and Wednesday night. I'll send you a PM with my cell phone. Call me when you get to town and maybe we can have a drink. I'll be at the show signing up sponsors for my new business: The Teen Car Control School.
