So, what is a fast lap at Gingerman...
I ran my 2000 with Cobalt VX/VR brake pad combo and a Gendron front swaybar. My best lap was a 1:40.5 on Hankook RS2s, they got really greasy after only a couple laps. How does this compare to other people's laps there?

Damnit Steve, that doesn't make me feel good. Six seconds slower than Saini, then again, the car I was driving couldn't be compared to the one he was driving either.... That is almost like us driving on Hoosiers in Peru, and Saini running on Hankooks, it just isn't fair.
Anyone have some street tire times? Or even times with race rubber on a stock car?
Thanks,
Colin

This site has some lap times for Gingerman.
Is your time stopwatch or lap timer? I use a stopwatch, but don't trust it very much unless I get a few consistent laps. For comparison, I usually run 1:40.XX at Gingerman. My mods are brake pads and Toyo RA-1 tires. I've talked to a few other people that have run 1:38.XX with my same setup, but have never been at the track when they ran those times. I have a theory that racer's lap times are similiar to fishermen's "the one that got away".

Yes, it was with a stopwatch, but all in a group of 1:40s. I ran about 6 1:40s in a row, then had to pass an integra so the lap went down to a 1:43, then a CRX blew up and it went to 1:41. My girlfriend who was doing the timing didn't even look up to watch me pass, the times should be as acurate as a stopwatch can get. I was really shooting for 1:39.XXX, I just couldn't make it happen.

Well, whatever you want to believe then. I am not one to sit here and lie about times though. I don't have a lap timer, because I rarely go to the track, so I don't see the point.

Not saying you're lying, just that sometimes laptimes have a way of getting faster and faster as people relay them In order to make lap times more meaningful, our sanctioning organization has chosen to use the same timing system as F1 does...and rents out the transponders on a daily basis, so no need to buy a lap timer to only use a few days a year
