Default Splitter development

Had my bumper off the car so I figured it was a perfect time to develop a splitter
As shown

I just wanted to know what should I use for material? I'm open to all suggestions

I looked into thia not long ago. I know some people use particle board or plywood, but i locally i sourced abs plastic sheets. Well locally i found a sheet of 3/8" for around 100 bucks. Thats the way id go personally if i were to go through with it.

Alumalite is the best economical splitter material in my opinion. It's commonly used in the signage industry. It's thin aluminum sheet top and bottom with a plastic honeycomb core. Hope that helps.

I second the Alumalite. I haven't yet made a splitter from it but I found a local sign making company that has it in stock. I would recommend about 2 to 3 inches of extension forward of the bumper and no extension to the side of the car.

I used alumacore, same as alumalite... Got a 4x8 sheet for $70 at a sign shop. Easy to work with and you can get two splitters out of one sheet. I used my old coastal metals splitter as a template just made mine a bit larger.

Alumnalite. Id never thought about that. How durable is it? Aka is it gonna destroy on the first serious aarking lot exit scrape? Ive always wanted to do an entire undertray and that would be a lot cheaper than abs over the long run.

Here's a tip on splitter development: Always make a backup. The difficult part is getting the mounting holes right. Once that's done it's very easy to make a second splitter to bolt on if the first one gets damaged. At the very least make a template with the mounting holes for future reference.

Here's a tip, don't use plastic. I bought a sheet of ABS plastic once to make a splitter. The damn thing was so heavy, I threw it away. The weight didn't help either; there was alot of flex as you got away from the mounting points.
