Default spring rates for full race s2000?

I am sort of stuck on what suspension to run. Honda Challege gets a 75lb penalty for running KW3's due to the external reseviour.

The west coast H1 guys have good quality suspension vs the east coast guys who run stuff like Tein (me included)...... so i thought for 2007 I may try to step it up a bit.

Koni makes a steel double adjustable single bodied shock that is similar to the 2812 but ~$500 vs now they want $900 for each 2812..... the cheaper one has a steel body but otherwise very similar.

I don't know what spring rates to try though..... they were suggesting 400lbs front and 625 rear..... anyone have any input?

That might be soft but I would try it anyway, if it doesn't work you can always buy a few springs from Hypercoil and Koni can revalve relatively quickly.

400 in the front I think will give a lot of dive and roll leading to picking up the inside rear but again it is worth a try.

It might be what is needed for RA-1s to work. Rull race tires (Hoosiers) will require a full race suspension on the other hand RA-1s require ???????

You need to look in the 700-800# range

Scot,

Most west coast track only cars are running in the 900-1100 lb range.

I'm running custom valved Koni 2825s. I've been running 400 lbs springs all around with a Comptech adjustable on 2nd to highest setting for a few years.

For next season I'm going to at least double those spring rates and I'll also be removing the rear bar and making whatever adjustment needed on the front bar.

i remembered reading about someone taking SLICKRICK's car out and saying it was TOO STIFF and that if it was softer he could probably pick up a second or two.....??

Not sure how much it matters but my tein RA's were 559 all around (i think).....

The numbers I posted were suggested by some shock guy in germany and given to me by a TC Kline employee...... I had intended on not running the rear sway bar and running 255 RA1's...in the rear and probably 235's in the front.....

i appreciate all the help..... the numbers definately seem low, but maybe they know something??

of course there is a such thing as too much spring. my spring rates are on tires that are a lot bigger and stickier than yours.

The #'s you posted look right to me in terms of f/r stagger. Tho I'd probably kick them up a notch. say 650F, 800R and run 255x4. Run a adjustable front sway bar and no rear.
