Time Trials at Watkins Glen
Just got back from Watkins Glen last night.
Long/short: I did a 2:20.5 best of three timed runs to win SSA over my buddy's '02 Z28 (must be mentioned he was driving a bruised car for the TT from an off at turn 6). Ace 350Z pilot friend of mine did a 2:21.X to win his class, SSGT.
If there's a track we go to where the Z28 or 350Z should have an advantage, I would have thought Watkins Glen would be it, so
Thanks to all who have helped out with setup recommendations, etc., including all the stuff I found just searching around the forums!

I'm there on Monday and Tuesday, and I can't wait to see the new pavement and curbing in 1. 5 and 6.
This was my first time tracking the S2000. Not bad! Steering is quite vague, though. And overall the stock setup is a bit oversteery. Not a problem really (only got GOOD and sideways once), but I bet it's faster with more front roll stiffness. The initial oversteer lurch took a bit of adjustment, I quickly learned that you can't crank in the steering at turn-in aggressively. Subtle inputs only... Sorta how my 240Z had to be driven after I improved front grip and before I ditched the rear sway bar.
There was a headwind on Monday, and I was hitting 125 at the end of the straight. Tuesday morning (colder, no headwind) it was seeing 129, still accelerating pretty well. For reference, a new Z06 reportedly hit 155 indicated there
Acceleration up the hill out of the toe of the boot was a drag, though. It was lugging at a mere 6500rpm...
Oh yeah, NO SNOW!

Dang, I thought there was only ONE other S2k at the event! I would've LOVED to talk to the guy who was running SPB, that class is for highly modded NA 6-cylinders and forced-induction 4's, so I bet he's got something interesting under the hood.
Weird that I didn't see that one at ALL for the whole two days...
The other guy (in SPC), I don't think he frequents the forums.
