Tips for improvement
DL isn't supported through the factory electronics on our cars, so unless you have aftermarket ECU regular SOLO the way to go. Lots of DATA there for beginner to play with. If you need more then you have probably become serious enough for aftermarket ECU anyway,
What I dislike about using phone cameras is that they lack jitter correction. If you drive on bumpy tracks, the video will not look that good. It will be adequate, but it won't be good and may be hard to see your marks in those bumpy sections. A decent phone mount helps, but phones just aren't the greatest for this kind of video. I've found it's really not that hard to sync up the data with the video using Race Render. I will admit at first, it seemed tedious.

I'm not sure if HLT has changed, but the thing I found very annoying is that it didn't store laps as sessions. It just had a long list of laps. This may not seem like a big deal to most, but when you have 50+ laps in one day, it can be a pita. Not to mention, if you try and go back and find some laps you ran at previous events. I find it a lot easier to just open a session, and look at the laps from one session. I don't usually get to look at video until after the weekend, but find looking at data/laps on my phone to be very helpful.
Syncing data to video w/ racerender is pretty quick once you've done it a few times. Nice thing is you can watch the data/video in racerender w/o needing to encode the new video w/ the data overlay. This is handy if you just wanted to see what you did for certain laps in a session.

Iphone 6 does 1080p @ 60 fps
Harrys lap timer can store laps as session/date/trackday/track
Hlt can now even render multiple laps, not just 1 lap at a time

....stupid software image stabilization!!!
Do you know if the AIM Solo DL does not work with our cars for sure? I'm just asking because after searching I get mixed answers. I read in a previous thread that the DL works with MY04 (which is what I have) and can display throttle/brake. Also, I'm also using a Kpro if that helps. In the market for one so thanks in advance for any clarification!
Haha.. well specs are virtually meaningless in terms of smoothness. I had an old camcorder that shot 1080p on a tape years ago that would look like s**t mounted in the car. Do you have examples of your footage? If a gopro is no longer necessary that's great news, but I'm a bit skeptical. My gopro footage is very sharp compared to most phone shot video I've seen. Good to know regarding HLT. I used it for one event 1.5yrs ago and was disappointed in it. For the money, it's definitely hard to beat phone shot video footage. I do wonder about reliability though.. Can you shoot 2hrs/day of footage no problem?

Here's one of my old videos. I believe this was my iPhone 5
I set video at 720p but I don't know if YouTube downgrades the upload.
Let me see if I can find videos of the obd2 scanner being used.

has anyone else experienced this? Currently looking into an Aim Solo, just torn between the regular and DL.
