Much easier to pack it into the trailer and leave the trunk empty. No need to worry about packing/unpacking unless you actually end up needing the stuff while you are there.

Even a "lightweight racing" jack weighs quite a bit, and rotors are heavy.

My toolbox is in front but I oriented it with the hinges to the front. It doesn't really make any difference for ease of loading/unloading.

If you put the tools in the trunk, you would have room on the trailer for the dead bodies which, IMO, would be much easier to clean up. Make sure the corpse is 200+ pounds though

The trunk is used for our clothes and such for the week. The cabin is used for the passenger and driver.

Hinges to the rear for me for loading purposes. No worries regarding the lid coming up while I am driving, it has it's own lock and I put two more Masters on it.

I still wonder how you guys are allowed to put a hitch on the S2000.

In Europe it is clearly written in the S2000 handbook that you are not allowed to tow anything with the S2000.

It's the same over here. But so what? Who is stopping us?

Well if the police stops you OR you have an accident you are in BIIIG trouble cause basically the insurance of the car could be void.(at least over here)

It's not like that over here. Americans are pretty much allowed to do whatever we want to our cars, except remove the emissions controls.

Some states do have a "safety inspection" but mostly that means checking the tires and brakes, I think. I don't know for sure, because my state does not have that.

People tow trailers behind motorcycles. I really don't think that the police have much problem with an S2000, which is a 2850 pound car, towing a small utility trailer. As for the insurance companies, I think it would be fairly easy to prove that an S2000 with such a trailer is at least as safe as some manufacturer-approved configuration.
