Default tow hooks?

So i always see people talking about tow hooks for the S and other cars...

The S comes stock with a great tow hook F+R and im sure its alot stronger than these thin CNC aluminum bolt-on ones. So why do people install these when you just pop the oem one out of the trunk and screw it in when necessary?

You have to have the tow-hook installed on the car while racing (and not just sitting in the trunk). The factory tow-hook sticks straight out of the bumper about 1.5"... if you even just nudge somebody with that you're going to leave a nasty mark on their car. Many of the aftermarket ones are either hidden behind the bumper, or they flip down so that they won't puncture another car so easily.

Also, from what I've heard, the tow hook on the S is not the strongest in the world.

You are wrong. It's not a great tow hook, and it's not stronger than something like a TC Designs towhook. Plus, when you really need a tow hook, you want it to be already installed and ready for use.

We made one because the oem one bends easy under towing, and has often bent the inside theaded part on the bumpers too. most tracks now are requiring cars to have at least a front tow hook. there are 2 good reasons for them.
