Default Tow Rental?

I'm in Southern California (San Diego) and was wondering if anyone has any tips or experience on renting a vehicle to tow a race car with.

Are there places that will rent things with hitches and car towing mechanisms (eg dolly, car hauler, etc.) for reasonable prices (say, a few hundred dollars for 400 miles)?

Does such a thing exist? The only option I've found so far is to rent a u-haul truck and a u-haul car hauler. Anyone know of something more purposeful and or less expensive?

Find a racing friend who is not using his gear during that time, and work out a deal.

It's a good idea, but I'm a lowly newb, which is why I have no tow equipment, and don't know anyone else personally who does track days
