Track Car Build
Hi All, my name is Ryan purchased a MY2000 S2000 about 4 months ago and I’ve been working on tearing it down and turning it into a track car. I figured I would start a build thread to document the process for others to follow, and also allow myself the opportunity to get input from the guys who have been in the game longer, and know much more than myself as this is my first JDM project, I’ve always delt with American Muscle and Euro/Exotics up until this point, so I’m excited for something new! I will start posting updates and pictures later today or tomorrow morning, stay tuned!!

Xxyion, thank you! That’s awesome! I have multiple car projects going on at once, so I figured I’d knock everything out at once instead of a tiered process. Basically with the engine I did the supertech flat face valves with behave springs and titanium retainers along with the thinner spoon head gasket to bump compression a hair and an adjustable cam gear to compensate. On the chassis I’m doing subframe connectors, front and rear braces and x brace and strut bar. Doing Tein Super Racing Coilovers, replaced every bushing on the car with poly and/or spherical bushings. Right now running adjustable upper control arms front and rear, but may switch out to the SPC joint on the stock arms if I decide to go STR route. Doing New clutch, pressure plate and lighter flywheel and also did the Fluidampr as well. Then all motor, diff and trans mounts are being replaced with the 95a poly mounts, did half shaft spacers as well. Sticking with stock calipers for now but went with stoptech rotors carbotech pads and stainless lines. Deleted the air pump system, mishimoto oil cooler, honed development brake ducts, short throw shifter, PLM header, 70 mm exhaust, Greddy e manage with tune and lower VTEC, changed all hubs and wheel bearings and put in ARP extended wheel studs. Doing Enkei RPF1 17x9 255/40 all around. Dev sport front splitter, devsport side splitter, and devsport canards. NRG adjustable carbon wing with gurney flap and diffusers, then also a rear diffuser. Koyo radiator, mishimoto hoses, racing thermostat, heat insulating gasket on the intake manifold, cold air intake of course. Then did rockstar garage double diagonal roll bar, as well as their full carbon fiber Mugen style hard top. Fully gutting the interior and doing Corbeau fixed back seats with 4 point harnesses, OMP wheel with quick disconnect, and then just gutted the stereo and any unneeded electronic equipment. Also did the baffled canton oil pan as well for insurance on long sweepers. Then just typical AFR and oil pressure/temp gauges. I’m sure there is some small stuff I have that I’m forgetting but I will start posting picks and updates of everything I’m doing. Keep me updated on yours as well!! -Ryan

Roel03, not currently. Basically I started getting into practicing on road courses in an ass backwards way about 4 years ago, I started off by running 500+ hp cars, lots of fun obviously, but horrible for actually learning and honing my technique, because I was just relying on horsepower to get me through... Not to mention consumables were insane $... So, I have started karting a lot and joined local leagues, but I wanted to get more of a momentum type car as well to be able to learn how to drive quick without relying on horsepower so much. Figured that developing those skills will allow me to run the higher horsepower vehicles better. So with that said, once I get the S2K done I plan on just trying to get as much seat time as possible by running with Edge Addicts out at the Circuit of the America’s, practicing at Driveway Austin, but first want to get seat time by joining Harris Hill just south of Austin, as I’ve heard it’s a great track for the smaller cars. Once I get proficient and comfortable with the car and talk with other owners about their experiences, I may look into open road racing or something of that nature.

Oh and also, for all you guys that have more experience (which is probably most everyone on here) please feel free to give your advice and honest opinions. I appreciate bluntness and honesty, and I have zero ego, so feel free to say if you feel I’m doing something wrong, or if you have a better way of doing something that pertains to anything I’m doing. Thanks guys!

Agree with afzan, - you probably would've been fine with the stock valvetrain. But, it looks like that's a done deal already. I would suggest running future planned mods by this forum so experienced people can tell you if they're worthwhile.
I noticed you said 4-point harnesses. These are generally considered unsafe around here and highly not recommended, in favor of 6 point belts, due to the lack of the anti-submarine feature in 4-points.
