Default Track Car Insurance or Not?

I just bought a second S to put on the track for HPDE and some Open Track Days where I can find them. I will be driving this car a few days per week as I fix all the problems and work out the bugs it has so basic liablity is a must for a while.

I want input regarding insurance while it sits at home, in transit, sitting in the trailer at hotels, stored at the track over night, ect........ What do you guys do.

I have my normal liability/comprehensive/collision insurance on my car. Until last year, I was actually covered on track. My insurance company changed their policies, though. But I kept the insurance because I often drive the car to/from the track, as well as to various garages. That also covers me against theft.

A few. But if you switch to one, there's no guarantee they won't change like the others.

Last I heard, Farmers still didn't have a track exclusion.

Thanks for the replies. I'm with Travelers and they will cover me while in a HPDE but like my agent told me, if I have a claim on track they will fix it then follow up with a separation letter. So far coverage without collision is $535 a year. I will know more today as I asked him to re-evaluate the "actual cash value" and "deductable" areas of the policy. I don't know if a multi-car policy can have diffeent deductables per vehicle.

Best to call up your insurance company and asked them yourself. That's the only safe bet.

No, the best is actually to READ THE POLICY. Anything the insurance agent says to you about what is covered and what is not is unenforceable and often wrong.

And sometimes the policy is written in an unclear manner and requires clarification.
