Default To track or not to track ?

Thinking about tracking some this summer. Not sure yet. Some apprehension. Can't push it anymore safely on the highway twisties. Need feedback from the "pros" on your track experincie, positive or negative. Thanks.

Do it. Best $ you'll ever spend on your car. You'll learn more about driving at or near the limits in one day on the track than you've learned in all your previous experience on the street.

Also, it's a great outlet. Most people come back from the track and feel no need to drive like an asshole on the street!

Definitely worth it. Just buy some better brake pads, upgrade your brake fluid and you're set for starting out

Most fun you'll have in your car.

Ditto on the brake pads and fluid. I glazed the OEM pads at my first track day.

My 2001 S2000 has 1000+ Summit Point miles on it. If you're a little careful and don't let yourself get overwhelmed by the Red Mist, you'll be fine.

Track days are big, big fun, but until you get some experience, be prepared to get passed by well driven Miatas. Focus on learing the line and being smooth and you'll be much faster at the end of the day.

Do I really need to upgrade my brake pads and brake fluid even though I'm planning on taking a more instructional course at first?

No. But it doesn't hurt.

If you take the typical one-day novice introduction to high performance driving class (and I encourage you to), then your stock car as is will be fine. Just be sure it is in good shape, especially the tires and brakes.

Once you get beyond that, you will rapidly run out of brakes.

Don't forget to hitch as many rides with the upper level drivers...will really show you how far off the pace your driving really is
