Default TracQuest at MidOhio

https://tracquest.com/default.asp

Todd from Tracquest just called me. He was having trouble receiving my email with his spam filter so he decided to just call back.

Mid Ohio for 2 days is going to be $550, 1 day $325. He's also has a no-frills package which is less but that also includes no instructor (you have to have had 5 prior events with them to do no-frills). His events include a catered lunch.

Things to keep in mind: TQ only has 3 run groups, most schools have 5. Yes, it's a little more money than other MidOhio track days but you'll get at least double the track time. PCA or BMW CCA events at MidOhio are typically $360-380 and about 2.5 hours of track time. Also you typically see 120-150 cars at other events. His are more like 50-60 so that means a lot less traffic on track and a lot more clean laps. You will not be disappointed. This also means you'll use more tires & brakes than a typical track weekend, so plan accordingly. (last year, with the combined groups they got 9 hours of track time!!!)

The online registration for MidOhio should be open in about 1 week.

For Miata guys it'ss OK to run "as is" in the slow group but you can only run in the slow sessions so if they have combined group sessions (for more track time) you can only run when it's slow group only. It's an insurance limitation.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you sign up.

It's a Monday/Tues event but 1 of the days is a work holiday for most everyone so you'll only need 1 vacation day to do both days.

See you there.

Good one. Unfortunately you'd have to change employer to be able to do that.

I can provide a place for you to ship yours.....

I wonder if Todd is driving or shipping his car out? If you know him, give him a shout.

I would love to do a trade, but I don't make the rules.

BTW, have you ever been to VIR?

PM sent.

WTF?

Lesse - Road America, Mid Ohio, Road Atlanta, Mosport, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Barber, VIR... Yeah, you're right - our tracks suck. Thunderhill and Buttonwillow are the bomb.

In all seriousness... any track is an awesome track. But you guys should think about heading East and taking some history lessons! I really wish I could make this Mid Ohio date, but we'll be at Lime Rock in the Pro Miata. Jeremy, we've got to be at the same track day sooner or later!!!

I don't know who that Glen Watkins guy is, and I never heard of any of those other drivers either... (Oh, and you forgot Sebring, I hear he was good enough to have a Honda color named after him.)

OK, so you've got great tracks in the east too. We've got 10 within a 500 mile circle, including Laguna Seca, California Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Sears Point. Most of them are right here in California! Nyah nyah!

btw: This sounds like a great event. TQ events are a class act and are well worth the price of admission. Todd is a phenomenal driver, as are many of the TQ regulars, plus you get a very nice class of car on the track. (You're much less likely to get rear ended by a Ferrari that a Civic!) I'm already making one trip back east with the S a month earlier, so unfortunately this one won't be possible.

Have fun!
