How is everyone securing it to the deck? I have not used mine yet but am thinking that 4 bolts through the bottom of the box with big ass washers on either side will do the trick.

Yep - I used 8 and that has been more than suffucient for the past 7 years. Just use your judgement on placement to match the recesses in the box with accessible areas under the platform.

8? I used four. Works fine.

I used nylon locknuts, of course, to ensure the nuts don't vibrate loose.
