I don't think the driver is giving the silver SM enough racing room. However, this may be a potential solution to the "eight-wide on the straight and the coming turn only fits three" problem.

Dunno Steve, looked pretty close to me. The guy could have been tagged then spun. I don't see the spin starting until after he's well in gear after his downshift. The car didn't look unsettled to me until the guy behind him tapped the bumper, spun him then clobbered him. Granted though, the delta-v between the two cars looks huge, but he was scrubbing speed at a good clip.

I think they just tapped because the camera car starts to turn in and they lose control. That started the oversteer, then they collided. The miata went air born because the camera car was at full lock and its front tire would have been exposed and the other just climbed right over it.

Thats my take

you can see the tach in the video. if he had locked up the rear you would see the tach shoot up.

Hell of a way to make a pass but it seemed to work. My best guess is that krazik has it right but I watched several times and like Steve I was unsure of what caused the oversteer. It must have been a very light touch to the left rear that caused it. I'd love to hear the drivers side of the story.
