cons. IMO, turbos, especially on the S aren't well suited for the track. The power delivery isn't very ideal. It can be tuned to be better, but the SC (ideally a positive displacement like an eaton or whipple) wil be better suited and a lot more reliable.

At every hot track day the turbo guys have nothing but problems.

Sup Joey,

Hope to see you at HRP Sept 21st.

Although I have no first-hand experience with either the SC or turbo setups for the S2000's, by reading numerous threads on this subject, there's a few things I find in common.

1. SC'd setups seem to be more common to find than turbos. My guess is that SC kits were readily available sooner by Vortech and Comptech and perhaps may be easier to install than turbos, which requires more time tuning (on a dyno, plus VAFC) to get the best results.

2. The SC's for our car are Paxton type centrifugal chargers which takes a while to develop the majority of boost. 15-20hp below VTEC and a big jump in power after VTEC kicks in.

3. Contrary to the supercharger stereotype which have instant-on power which benefits low to midrange power, the Eaton style blowers (roots-type blowers) are not available for the left-hand drive S2000's. But... ironically, turbochargers seem to be the best option for our cars to increase torque at lower rpms and benefits from making good power up on top also.

4. As someone mentioned, getting good cooling is more important than ever with either SC or turbo setups. I don't know if there's an add-on oil cooler for the S2000 (I'm sure there must be), but I'm sure that'll make a good addition to the mods you're planning to do.

Whichever you choose to do, I'm sure it'll be awesome Joey. Just make sure to give me a call once it's installed!

Aloha,
Jimmy

the stoptechs work great, only running the fronts right now, rears were on backorder, but I just put a hold on that for motor repairs

spun #4 rod bearing in 2nd race. looks like oiling issues.

No problems with abs or anything. plug and play. I've been meaning to pull data and post plots of stock vs stoptech at laguna, but I haven't had time and I'm off for vacation on thursday so it'll be a few more weeks.

one more post

power delivery. With my current turbo setup I pick up 200ftlbs of torque between 4500 and 5500 rpms but honestly in any gear but 2nd (and probably 1st but I don't use first on the track) its completely driveable.

18psi at ~525 hp right now

Another surprising data point. vs the 1500 paxton sc, I'm running significantly cooler temps with the turbo in similar weather. (only once did I see my water get over 200deg in upper 70s at Laguna running nose to tail with a cup car.
