The video is longer than it should be. Fast forward to about 70% completed.

Video is so tiny I could hardly tell it was an S2000. I was surprised that that corvette lost control, from the cockpit view it looked like he was fine and then he suddenly lost it and slides into a wall.

Where is that? Mid-Ohio?

Any way that could have been avoided?

Watch his right hand. He has it on the shifter for a couple of seconds while going through a turn using one hand to steer the car. He was both distracted as well as not as smooth as he could have been. Rookie mistake.

That's Grattan which is my favorite small track.
The turn onto the front straight has a bit of a bump to it, so I imagine if he was on the power too hard the sudden decrease in traction did not match his throttle input. Also the wall is on top of the berm, so most like it just dug into the berm and flipped it.

Looks like there is a set of skid marks already on the pavement in almost the exact same place that this car leaves the track. Guess that bump has clamed more than one.

He had one hand on the steering wheel, it looked like he wasn't really paying attention. Then when the car started to slide, he reacted very late. Sucks.

Having one hand on the wheel is bad. However the reason he wrecked is that he lifted completely when the slide started, instead of reducing his throttle input and staying with it. This transferred all the weight to the front end, which reduced traction at the rear end even more, which caused him to wreck.

Bummer.

it was both amusing and disturbing that the "door is ajar dinger" was working after the cash. Hopefully the door didn't pop ajar with impact
