Vinyl Wrap + AutoX Cone Marks = Bad Idea?
I tried finding an elusive GPW CR, but they seem to be impossible to locate. I was thinking about wrapping my Rio CR with vinyl and I was curious if anyone has run a lot of autocross events in a wrapped car? Does it take a lot of damage from cone marks that cannot be washed away? I've never wrapped a car (except ClearBra) and I have no idea how well it holds up.
I'll be going to events at least 3-4 times a month each season, so the wrap will definitely be smacked with a lot of cones
Thanks!

Not well...
My MY05 Silverstone Metallic is wrapped in matte white 3M vinyl and I drive it on road courses. It's all fine and dandy but the vinyl loves to pick up brake dust, bugs, and other things, so it requires cleaning rather quickly. If you ever drip gas onto it, it'll leave a weird blemish that will need to be cleaned and dried but never fully goes away.
Still, I have it because it protects my OEM paint and it looks cool in track photos. Just don't expect to win any awards if someone comes within 2-3 feet of the car. Haha.
Hope that helps!

I was thinking of going with glossy white, I wonder if that would be a bit easier to clean than a matte vinyl?Do you mind if I ask how much you paid to wrap your S2000?
Thanks!
i have a clear bra on my car which i'm sure you know is kind of different than vinyl. for those that don't know, the clear bra is urethane or something and feels kind of soft.
i hit cones on the track going fast...probably 70 mph or so...you know, it happens...
the cones "burned" the clear bra. it scratched and left black marks on the bra that i can't really get out. the cones seemed to have rubbed and stretched the urethane sort of like an eraser. one mild mark came out with a buffer and compound, but the guy only tried that one spot.
tire marks on the clear bra are easily removed with wax.
i am going to wrap my other track only car gloss white. i am going to do two layers of it on the front of the car, like a bra and peel it off and replace when it gets messed up. i know someone else that did printed vinyl and clear bra'd that since it's more difficult to remove and replace than plain white.

I actually started wrapping the car myself along with help from a friend in my garage, but ran into some difficulties in doing the bumpers so I consulted with a buddy of mine, Shareef Khan, who owns SS Customs in Redwood City: www.sscustomsweb.com
He helped me do my bumpers, and most recently he also wrapped my front lip and my Shine front fenders.
My car parked at N1 Concepts in Hayward:
If you're interested in getting vinyl wrap done, there are few places better than SS Customs. They do tons of wrap work for exotics and luxury cars and they're currently in Denver for the goldRush 3 Rally which consists of some really expensive cars with very discerning owners.
Hope that helps! Tell him Tom sent you if you call, he'll give you that player price.
