Default What is the best way to get involved in Chicago Scene?

I'm a new S2000 owner and I'm interested in getting involved in some drivers ed time on the track and some Auto-X time as well. Any suggestions? I live in the western suburbs (Wayne near St. Charles)

Hugh,

There's a friendly bunch of S2K owners in the greater Chicago area. I'm sure that before long you'll hear from them.

Hi Hugh,

There is a pretty active group of S2000 folks in Chicagoland. Jason Saini is on the SCCA board and autocrosses nationally. He would be a great starting point. There is also the Tri-State Sportscar Council, they do autox, as well. And the Midwest Council, too...lots of racing going on around these parts!

we also rent various racetracks from time to time. My home course is Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI. we are getting back out there on August 31. Can't WAIT!

Also, we have VOTA Racing/Chicago 7 meetings often. There is a restaurant in the city called the Player's Club. Out next get together over there is next Wednesday, where we are welcoming none other than Gregg Ginsberg. It should be a night of splendid debauchery...it always is when he's around!

Check the meets and event forum for more detail on next weeks get together...and welcome to the club!

Thanks for the information. Are the events at Gingerman competative racing or do the follow more under the drivers ed (limited passing) rules?

I will be in Gingerman tomorrow and Thursday afternoon. If you would like to come, I can fill you up the information.

I may be one of the stray dogs that roam by, but hopefully I'm not one that will get kicked.

hi all,

i'm pretty much in the same boat as hpalmer. got room for one more?

Luder94 - it's been a while..... just to refresh you gave me a couple of body shop recommendations. i went with Larry at Barrington Coach Haus Ltd. i very highly recommended this shop. a bit pricey though..... doh!

hpalmer, hecash? - i was around out west on higgins (rt.72) going west and saw a red s2000 heading east. this was way west.... past randall road but before Marengo on friday at around sunset. nice stretch of roads over there! did you happen to see one in a silver s2000 saluting you? if you did..... that was me....
