What paint protectant is available for bumpers?
just wondering what kind of protectant other ppl have used to cover their front bumpers and headlights and what not. i know most ppl use that blue painters tape. anything else a bit thicker and looks like will actually do some kind of protecting? heck, ill even consider something permanent and clear. obviously the more cheaper the better. at the very least, i want to cover the oem front chin spoiler, seems to take a beating very easily.
I can't add much about the temporary bra that's not already in the above thread.
If you're looking for full time front end protection, a vinyl clear bra setup is the way to go. Figure $400 for the vinyl plus installation. (Do NOT attempt it yourself.) It'll save your front end from rock chips and bugs.
For weekend trips or race excursions (autoX, etc), the spray on bra is a viable alternative. It will definitley protect the front end, but it's messy and time consuming to install.
I'm going with a conventional leather (read: vinyl) bra that I will install and remove as need. Cost vs. ease of installation makes it the solution of choice for me.
As I learned this weekend, AutoX-ing will tear up your front bumper if you drive aggressively.
I won't do that again without a bra installed.
