what rpm do you launch at at the track??
i took my s2000 to the track for the first time last friday, never took a car to the drag strip in my life. I was wondering what rpm do you guys launch at? I talked to a guy who had a white s2000 and he said he launched at around 6 grand. I would think you would just sit there and spin if you did that. i was launching around 2500 to 3000.

Did you bog? What kind of tires are you running?
When launching at 2500 - 3000 what kind of times were you getting?
In order to get good 1/4 mile times you really need to launch at around 6000RPM.

when i launched at 6000 i just sat there spinning my tires. I'm running kumho tires.
when i was launching at 2500 i ran a 15.1 at 94mph. 15.6 was my first run. Like i said before i never drag raced before. Doesn't the altitude affect your 1/4 mile time? i'm not sure what the altitude is around Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Oh yeah, im running stock too.

You will spin some if you launch correctly. The point is to get the car into VTEC as the tires hook up. You can't do that with low rpm launches in the S.
If you are spinning and not moving at all, well, maybe new tires? Or be sure you drive around the water. Launching at 2500 or 3000 should cause a ton of bog, which is hard on the drive train. Launching at 6K should break the tires loose, which is easier on the drive train (compared to bogging), but hard on the clutch.
At any rate, your times are, ah... horrible. I ran 14.4 my very first run ever. Never ran above 15, even with a missed shift or bad launch. With my car in stock condition (other than brakes and x-brace), I ran a 14.18.

You may want to purchase a drag car instead of beating on something know to break parts due to very high RPM launches. If you plan on drag starts very often, get used to the idea that clutches, transmissions, diffs and axles will break.
