on 08/09/08 i went to a race event held by speed ventures and my best time was
2.25.438 although i have done autocross once or twice before this was my first time on a track on my own my friend clocked a 2.13.010 in my s2k i immediately told him he is not allowed to drive my car until i get in to the 2.15.00 but anyway i wanted to know what times any of you guys and gals have gotten at button willow and post the mods on your car
My time was best time was 2.25.348
Bone stock s2k oem pads
bridgestones potenza 050
I run 1:57 all day long bone stock on Costco brand tires and a tank full of Cherry Coke.
Seriously don't sweat your track times. More experience will get you where you need to be. Just have fun out there and be patient. Try and get ridealongs and whatever you can to improve. Learning new lines and techniques from other drivers will pay huge dividends.
You'll get up to speed in due time. Happy tracking =D

CW 13, if so then you should quit your day job.
Read much?
I did a low 2:04 in an '03 with coilovers, brake pads, wheels/street tires (Yok Neovas). 60k miles on her, my first time in an S2k... but I had a few sessions to practice.
I farted around to a 2:11 today in my student's '07 on beat-to-hell Azenis.
!m stuck at 2:05.3. I keeped getting this same time on every session today. Next goal is 2:00 flat by the end of the year. My best stock time was a 2:21 it was also my first track event so you are right there for a first timer at buttonwillow. Good job.
mods are kwv3, js wing, apr splitter, toda flash, non staggered ap2s, and nt01s
^^I've got a lot of work to do then, pure stock 01, just axxis ultimate pads, decent alignment, azenis front, dunlop z1 rear, got a 2:18 on my first trackday event.

blame Billy abused those RT615 1'29 at sows last time
IMO, lap times are drastically overrated as a tool for improvement for new drivers. What's more telling is the variation in the (clean) lap times. Are you hitting the same time every lap? Are you bouncing all over the place? Can you repeat that best time again and again, or is your real typical laptime actually five or ten seconds slower than that best time you lucked into?
If you have sector times available, you also find out that lap times hide a lot of information. A lap that is good through the first half of the track and bad through the second half is impossible to separate from a lap that was just average everywhere. Impossible, that is, unless you can compare sectors. Or better yet, speeds at anywhere on the track. I love my datalogger.
I'm not saying that lap times have no valuable information, but they are not the best tool to use for novice drivers. You need to be able to hit the same time over and over again before changes in that time have any real significance.
