Fortunately, just a broken clutch spring and limped all the way back home.

Blew my motor at VIR last October. Dropped a intake side keeper on #2, which dropped a valve and then carnage unfolded. Make matters worse, the motor I ended buying from another member on here ended up having scored cylinder walls and the block required sleeving to correct.

Money shifted turn 1 at COTA, 5-2 shift, exploded diff in big chunks. A car I just rebuilt had oil filter spin back off oil cooler kit, sprayed engine bay in oil and burned engine bay badly. It's since been rebuilt.

worst was a shattered rear hub, was unaware that was even a common issue we have. it lasted 4 years of hard track abuse before it disintegrated though. when it failed it smashed the wheel, shedded the tire, smashed up the greddy exhaust, destroyed the rear bumper, bent up some of the inner structure, and sent me flying into the sand trap. was able to locate a used rear hub and was back on track the next morning. long story short only use oem hubs and replace them yearly if you track alot or replace every 2 years if you only do 2/3 events a year

And yet another testament of NOT hand tightening the filter on these cars!! That looksl like it could have been much worse! How did the rest of the car fare?

Lots of close calls here.

For the oil filter backing out, i'm running a knock off version of the J's racing oil filter stopper.

For some of the other failures, I'm also a huge on being over prepped and over doign preventive maintenance on brakes. I don't eff around with brakes.

ABS sensors is a good one to check on more regularly. I cleaned mine the last time i replaced my control arms.

First track day back from getting the car painted. Right rear upper control arm snapped in half in the middle of turn 1 at Sonoma Raceway at 100+mph. Some poo almost came out. Luckily I somehow saved it.

Estimated track hours / sessions / days on that control arm?

Did you preemptively replace your other control arms afterwards, or just the one that failed?

Track days I'm guessing 50+ and about 100k miles

Yes I replaced ALL 4 upper control arms right after, and maybe a month or 2 after replaced all 4 lower arms. I was traumatized LOL.

Oil filter backed off. Oil dumped. Got the car off in time, motor seems to be saved. Very lucky the hot oil all over the underside of the car and side of the motor didn't catch on fire. Also nearly got totaled by a Camaro SS that hit my oil on the downhill and spun 720+ degrees on its way to rest 10 feet to my left.

Had a lot going on in the moment getting that motor saved and everything, but good god off the back side of a downhill 5th gear straight is not where you leave a stranded car. Whew.
