Wheel offset, increasing track
My current street rims are rota slistreams 16x7 & 16x8, offset something lile 41mm. They increase the track of my car close to 2" wider.
I'm thinking about throwing my race rubber on these rims, since they .5" wider width. the new race rubber is going to be kumho v710's 225/5/16 and 265/45/16.
Thoughts?? I assume some of you have tried lower offset rims before.

Well, theoretically increasing the track front and rear proportionally will not affect front to rear balance (understeer/oversteer characteristics) but, theoretically, it will give you more cornering grip as the lateral weight transfer is now reduced...but I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference.
And I think your tire width differences front to rear would affect balance more so than any variation in front to rear weight transfer due to an unproportional increase in track front to rear.
It's really a 2" difference in track? I wouldn't worry too much, that track increase isn't much of a change (around 5%, right?). It won't change the load paths too grossly - I think if it fits under your fenders you should be ok to go.

Unless I'm missing something, wouldn't you want it to be a 225/50 which is not 45 or 55??
225/50/16 and 245/45/16
