I've noticed in Jasons sig the use of H&R wheel spacers.

My wheels are on the way (BBS JDM) I've ordered my Kumhos and once everything is in I'll have my alignment done. The only thing I guess I'm missing in the suspension dept are the shocks and spacers. The shocks won't happen for a while due to cost and my limited experience but the spacers seem to be something I could go ahead and do for not much more money.

Can someone explain the spacer to me. I understand where they go but don't clearly understand the reason for them being there. Are they only used on the rear? Is it simply to widen the rear track?

Also if you could hook me up with a retailer. I notice King has them but they seem to be to thick (25mm) for stock autoX application. Seems like I remember 5mm being the correct size.

Thanks once again!

Mack,

King does carry them in the right size - I believe they have three sizes - and the one you want is 5mm. That's where Jason got them. On another note - the guy that's setting up my car is not a big believer in them. It has something to do with changing the feel of the car and zero scrub radius. He explained it as the designers of the car probably worked pretty hard to have pretty close to a 0 scrub radius and this would move away from that.

This is in layman's terms ( and please anybody who actually has a good understanding correct me ) but I believe that the idea here is to have the center of the track of each wheel/tire to be under the car? I believe that moving the track wider will adversely affect feel when turning. Hopefully I'm not too off base with this - but this should give you enough info to do some more research.

Jason and the rest of the mistress gang, do you guys have any further input on this topic?

looks like its only pushing out the wheels .19685 inches on each side. less than half an inche total track gained.

True, Schatten - wouldn't seem that significant but every little bit matters. And while you might change the scrub radius in the front, it might be a benficial change.

Also, (And I wanted this to be our little secret, but everyone was going to find out eventually) we are only using the spacers in the rear. Keep that quiet - only people that read this thread will benefit. By only changing the rear, you are helping (ever so slightly) to balance the car. You also don't affect scrub radius, because that only applies to the steering tires.

Let's not forget also that changine tire size to the wider tires changed scrub radius, but I digress. We stumbled upon the rear-only spacers because the fronts didn't fit over the hub-centrics...

So, we have one pair left over - and rather than return them to King I might as well just sell them to one of you. First person to email me gets 'em. If anyone else wants them, King has the 5mm H&R spacers, very trick parts. (they weigh ounces).

While the gains are marginal at best, but remember every little bit counts!
