Default Where are the tracks?

I'm planning the track calendar for the Atlanta group for next year. However, I can't think of any tracks here in the southeast that we don't go to and that we could get. So far, we have used Talledega Grand Prix (smaller, road course one, not the big oval park), Carolina Motorsports Park, and Roebling Road Raceway.

Most of the big tracks like Road Atlanta are either too expensive or scoff at our club. When we rent, we rent the whole day and offer the spots to paid members, then to general public. We have a good rep with all of the tracks we've been to, but the big guys don't look at you unless you're PCA or something like that.

Anyway, just wondering if any of you knew a website or anything with a listing of road courses that rent out to clubs. There has to be more than three or four good ones in the southeast.

I'm trying to get Barber at the moment, but I've heard that's pretty hard to get as well. I know there are tons of opportunities to get on with other clubs, but we like to have our own group if you know what I mean.

After the deaths this year, that list is likely to get a lot shorter. From what I've heard, the insurance companies are moving to really tighten up track access. I'm not sure if any of the independent track day clubs are going to be in business in a few years.

Wow, that blows. I haven't heard about that yet. Does it even affect "educational" track days? When we rent out, we don't race or time runners so it falls under a different policy. It's technically an educational event, but we all keep track of our time individually.

Yes. Keep in mind this is partially speculation, partially rumor, and partially fact. But I've heard it from multiple semi-independent sources. Even the really big clubs like PCA and BMWCCA are concerned about it.

The most likely scenario seems to be that track rental will be increasingly restricted and increasingly expensive. The small independent clubs won't be able to get insurance at all, and the bigger commercial outfits will have to pay about double what they paid this year.

People die on track every year. Unless you can show that there were more (any?) lawsuits or insurance payouts as a result of this activity, why would this year be statistically more significant than the years that came before?

One thing you could maybe do is see if one of the established track day groups in your area can organize it for you. Since they already has relationships with the tracks, they might have access to tracks you normally wouldn't be able to.

I would have thought so, but apparently that's not true. Well, it is true of sanctioned racing, but not HPDE and club racing events.

I'm just being the messager here. This is what I've heard from the local tracks and people who use the tracks. The racing types don't expect anything different, but the HPDE and club type folks are all quite concerned.

Some of the Speed Ventures folks hang out here, right? Are they worried?
