Default Why Square?

I am just curious, this is my second S2K, so after being out of the loop for a bit, I am back. One thing that has changed is the push for a square setup. I understand the simplicity (same tire size, rotation, etc.). But from a pure performance standpoint why? I personally have always felt that these cars had more than enough traction in the front, I think most would agree. So for me I fell I can dial in a staggered setup easier and that will work just as well as a square setup. However, I am sure that if this were true everyone would not be doing it, so what am I missing? Are you guys able to make the overall setup that much better once you compensate for now greater traction on the front of a car that seemed to already have plenty?

What do you, like, keep these on hand for these moments?

I would not agree. 205 or 215 front may be fine for stock front bar and stock springs, but if your competition class allows upgrading either / or... it's awfully nice to get more tread up front.

Haha, fair enough guys. Kinda the answer I expected, by adjusting the overall setup you can utilize the entire allowed increase in front end grip while still keeping a relatively neutral car (if that is what you choose). So with that more tire still = more grip.

www.google.com

site:www.s2ki.com why square setup

The search engine on this forum is the worst I've used, so I resort to the above.

Even with a square setup the front tires wear much faster for me, I think it's because the car can stop a lot harder than it can accelerate, especially with r-comps. I would absolutely destroy 215s up front.

From my experience, front vs rear tire wear is dependent on how your car is set up. If it is loose, then the rears will wear quicker. If it is set up to understeer then the fronts will wear quicker.
