Hmm, I never bothered to play that disk. Is it worthwhile?
I heard about the HANS device when I took the racing school. I got very interested in it when my son popped a left rear tire at apex of turn 9 at PR, and went almost head-on into the outside wall by the bleachers. In a car that he'd just taken the temporary, new-car tags off of that morning.
He's fine, perhaps in part due to the big foam collar he was wearing, but the wreck rather graphically illustrated how random a bad crash can be, and how important safety is. And that was very soon after the Ferrari/NSX mishap. It was time to get a real race car; that was the last time I had my S2000 on the track.I bought the HANS device when I started racing; it would not have done me any good with my S2000, with the stock seats/3-point seat belts. It takes a tiny bit of getting used to. The only time it's been a pain was when my throwout bearing disintegrated before turn 3A, and I had to take the escape road when it wouldn't go back into gear after I shoved it out of fourth. I couldn't look far enough right to safely enter the track, until I changed the angle of attack so I could see 3B out of my rear view mirror.

Only if you really want to feel good about having paid a huge amount of money for a HANS device.
