Default WING Opinions. APR vs Voltex

Hey, I've read every thread on the subject as well as other forums and still can't quite decide what makes the most sense.. To provide some additional info,
1. Car is and will be NA for a long time,
2. Stock body car with 255's all around
3. I street drive the car in nice weather.
4. Looking to improve stability in high speed corners on track and improve lap times.
5. Willing to do a splitter to balance front aero.

I do care about looks if I'm being honest but not really willing to spend a lot extra on J's/Voltex over an APR GT-250 if it's just for looks.

Questions:
1. My favourite wing aestechtically is the Voltex 1s, but it seems almost no track guys use them.. Are they just not effective? I can't find any info online about their effectiveness or CFD data.
2. Is there any data proving the typical s2000 J's/Voltex wings are more efficient or provide more downforce than an APR 250 or 300?
3. How about a comparison between an APR 250 vs 300. I can't seem to find great information as to why you would use one over the other? 250 is a 2d, so I would need to mount higher than the 300 since it's a 3d? Otherwise the 250 seems to be more efficient.. Not sure I want to street drive with a monstrously high wing if that's required for the 250..

I looked into this as well. The APR 250 is good for n/a powered cars and the 300 for boosted applications. The 300 creates more downforce, as well as more drag.

I went with the GT250 for a couple of reasons. They at least provide some data to allow you to make a semi educated guess as to which of their products to go with. The data they provide is not that useful in the grand scheme of things since they run some pretty simplified CFD cases, but it is better than nothing in my opinion. The GT250 is cheaper than the JDM wings and is also made in the USA. Additionally, if you are not doing any competitive racing or time trials, even if the JDM wings are slightly higher performing/more efficient/lower drag it shouldn't matter much. It sounds like the GT250 will suit your needs just fine.

My main complaint with the 250 is the mounts it came with were too low. I ended up upgrading to the 14" mounts from Evasive. The taller mounts ended up deforming my trunk quite a bit so now I am running custom chassis mounts for the wing. There are preventative things you can do to avoid trunk deformation but for whatever reason those didn't work for me.

I believe some of the S2K challenge folks on here did a back to back comparison with an APR GT250 and one of the Voltex wings at Buttonwillow a while back, hopefully they can chime in and enlighten us with the details.

Try one of these wings...used by track folks, some are even CFD tested, and some like AJ Hartman and Nine Lives have cool features which mount on the backside of trunk to prevent the bending and warping of your trunk. I've got AJ on mine and it works great.

I’ve heard that before as well. It seems a bit simplified though as one is a 2d and other a 3D but it seems to get glossed over.. in practice how does that change my mounting height or does apr include the correct height risers for the specific wing on the s2000 specifically..

I've tested a few of these on my site (baero.tech). GT250 and Aeromotions is next on the list and should be done in the next month.

All of these ignore the fact that he street drives it and isn’t lookin for a massive wing with the best profile possible.

9LR will crack your trunk around the mounting holes unless you weld plates to the underside. Also, it will pull the front of the trunk lid up.

I've been running one of the original ones since September 2018.

Awesome, I had seen your site before and just checked it out again. Great work. I'm actually going to grab some offset bushings from you as well. haha. I'll keep an eye out for the data on the 250.
