Default Working out the tyre choice !

Hi All,

I use my s2000 as an evening/weekend occasional car and track car. Im going up to 17" oem ap2v1 17" wheels and wondered what tyres you would all recommend... Ive been considering

Toyo R888
Bridgestone RE070
Bridgestone RE01R
Michilen Pilot Sport 2's

Just wondered what people here recommended as a decent daily and mild track tyre

Toyo R888 = Race tire...wears too fast for the street.
RE070 = expensive and wear too fast
RE01R = Great street/occasional track tire, but no longer sold (hard to find)
Michelin PS2's = Too expensive for what it's worth

Great alternatives are:

Dunlop Direzza StarSpec Z1's
Nitto NT-05's

The dunlops are cheaper, but I would try the NT-05's if you have the extra cash. I'm running them right now and love how they feel. 200 treadwear rating gives it a tolerable lifespan too

Bank for the Buck StarSpec Z1. I do have R888 but on the extra rim for track day only.

The NT-05's are relatively new. I did a google search and it looks like it's available in UK. You shoudl check with your local tire retailers.

I ran RE01R's and they lasted all last year track/street/auto-x

I'd get the RE01R's over the RE070's unless you wanna do a lot of street miles.

R888 is realy a track tire its gonna grip better but wear out fast on the street.

I have the RE070. I think they're a great tire. However, if the previous owner didn't buy the rear tires I wouldn't be using them. Like others have said they're pricey. They also produce a lot of noise when wearing down.

If I had to choose a new set of tires for your needs it would be the dunlop direzza SS or NT05 just as others have recommended.
