Default '00 S2000 vs '03 WRX

Well, it finally happend where my brother and I both had our cars out on the freeway together. Here is a list of the mods on our cars.

Stock '00 S2000
-ARC shiftknob
-Stereo upgrade
-Volk rims
-Tein coilovers
*Those are my go fast goodies

vs

'03 WRX [approx. 220awhp]
-gutted up-pipe and cat
-3" downpipe which removes one cat i believe
-3" HKS exhaust
-HKS BOV
-Cobb Accessport programed on Stage2

1st race:
Side by side at approx. 60-65 mph we were both in 3rd gear, my brother does the three honks and we are off. My car looks like it is going to start pulling away, but maybe I just got the jump. Towards the end of 3rd gear and into 4th the WRX starts to put about a 1-1.5 car length lead on me. Then we slow down towards the end of 4th gear because cars are ahead of us.

2nd race:
Side by side again at about 50-55mph in 3rd gear, which is worse for me since my powerband is below VTEC. Three honks and we're off again, I stomp on the gas waiting for VTEC and out of nowhere I see the WRX put a car length on me in seconds before I even hit VTEC. I continue to chase to about 100mph but it is too late since his stage2 gives him better top end now, I would say he probably had a 1-2 car length lead on that run at the end

Final Thoughts:
When my brother had the Stage1 program in his WRX, before the up-pipe and downpipe, we would be about dead even in the same races with the S2000 inching away in the higher speeds. But now with the Stage2...well just read above and you'll see how much it helped him. I think we will eventually try some races down low towards 15mph in first gear and 40mph in 2nd gear, but with the extra torque the WRX has it might not be such a good idea for me to race him anymore

maybe you should get some mods? Even a K&n and air intake mod or some others will narrow it 1 or car or closer.

When I hit it in 3rd at around 60-65mph which is exactly 6krpms VTEC I don't get a crazy pull VTEC liek 1st or 2nd when I hit, to me 3rd is like blah I still get the noise but bump is harder ot notice unitl it gets to around 7k. I think if you raced at say 70mph starting youd even have a better start

So you pull like crazy once you hit 3rd gear at 6k 60-65? Wow I don't think my s2k and some others don't do that and shes pretty healthy with light engine mods 7k rpm or higher and then you can see the mph go by faster and go faster but not 6k....

Raced an mod integ last week and he had passengers and when he hit it at 65 I then hit it after him and Iw as even and iniching slowly then 7k hits and bam shes off! So try 70mph next time like I said 3rd gear seems weeak in 50-65mph starts, 70+ is upw here you want to be.

I never said anything about pulling like crazy once I hit VTEC in 3rd gear at 60mph. We all know that our cars don't shine until the upper RPM's close to redline. If we started at 70-80mph in 3rd gear than the S2000 is making a lot more power but then my brother's WRX will be close to his redline. Obviously I gave him a slight advantage by starting at 50-60mph instead of like 70-80mph in 3rd gear.

But, even when we were reaching the end of 3rd gear and shifted into 4th gear his car started pulling and putting the car length on me. If I started at 70mph I think I would be able to stay even or pull ahead a little once we take off, but the way his car was pulling in the top end definitely suprised me.

P.S. I use to have a comptech CAI and Amuse Dual exhaust and I don't believe they helped very much. The only performance mod I will ever add in the future would be a Supercharger...

oh no I meant thats a good pull if you got the leap off on him on 3rd at 6k? I never can get a car length leap right away to the 4 diff modded cars I've raced when I start out at 3rd 6k, we are just side by side or I'm incihing away slowly, but once it hits 7k bam and bye bye

the best race was a heavy modded type R though i beat and nice car to

I should use edit more Also thats pretty good for him to have lots of bolt ons and him being turbo and barely beating you With a lil more practice maybe you could pull on him more. Try a 5mph start?

Haha, yeah try out that edit button more often.

All-in-all I would agree that there might be different outcomes if we raced starting at different MPH's. The small leap I took in the first race could have been from just punching it first or it could of been his turbo lag But it was not a crazy pull or anything, it just looked like I was going to start pulling...

good point, I never hit the gas 1st, I'm always the last to hit it after my oppnenet does so which probably puts me at a lil disadvantage
