I believed this story until I read the last sentence. "Luckily" your extra TQ and HP allowed you to stay in front Sounds like someone is trying to start a riot.
Why would that cause you to throw up the flag? He does have more TQ and HP, from very low rpms all the way up to his redline...this isn't opinion, it's fact. If higher peak HP exists in an AP2 or not, it doesn't matter, this isn't an argument about peak hp.

there are facts that give both cars an advantage over the other. one of the ap2's advantages is the slight increase in torque/hp.

I get what you're saying... I can do both methods... shift very fast and powershift... although in my experience powershifting has been just a little bit faster. Then again, I can downshift to 1st from any speed under 40 without a problem... Maybe my car is a little bit weird. Or I am? Hehe. Next time I go to the track I will try both methods, and see in fact which one is really more efficient.
powershifting works for me as well, if you do it right at the first blink and fast enough u wont hit the limiter. If you watch my runs vs. hammads 350z way back win powershifting was the difference between about a car just from the 3-4 shift and about 1/2 a car from the 4-5 shift. Powershifting wont slow you shifts down and no mine doesnt grind although mine is more like a 75% throttle powershift, I bet Wisconsin isnt all the way off the gas but just doesnt realize it because it happens so fast

What I found interesting as that I was forced to upshift to the next highest gear due to my lower 8200rpm rev limit and the '00 was still winding to 9000rpm, I was able to maintain the side by side position. So, what I was saying is that the AP2 obviously has more power and torque if I can hold off an AP1 when I'm at 6500rpm and they're at 8500rpm. The difference is the AP1 has an extra 1,000rpm of powerband which evens things back out again.

I just thought it was great how evenly matched the cars were. My C6 buddy who drove knows how to shift a stick and was not hitting the rev limiter even with his powershifting, which means that he might have been barely lifting off the gas for a split second. Who knows. Either way, it was a tight race.

Eh. That is not true at all. Look at a few side by side.

A more interesting tangent:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry5744289

I actually graphed(somewhat coarsely), engine TQ * gearing for a MY00-03 and a MY04+ using appropriate gear ratios, shift points etc. The MY00-03 dyno that numbers were extracted from was a MY02 putting out 200rwhp. The MY04+ dyno was my MY04 putting out 211rwhp. The results were interesting. Look at the eff tq advantages each car has at different mph.

That graph is very interesting, Steve. Thanks for posting that. Kind of interesting that where one car is stronger the other isn't quite as much and then it reverses! The net effect is that they are very equal over a range of speed.

The BS flag was not to dispute the numbers, but rather the story. It had to do with using the word "luckily" and the overall story itself. It was like reading the technical comparisons on the AP1 vs AP2 and then having someone fabricate a story including those theories and differences. I suppose I tend to over analyze things a bit! The number themselves are not up for debate, they are indeed a fact!
