1) About a month ago I come across this Silver 06' STI and a Black 97'Cobra go at it twice; first from a roll (Cobra won), out of the hole (STI won). I decide to join in the fun as we all turned on to Kendall Drive heading west, I along with my fiancee (now my wife) sped up (top down) to catch these two (neither of them had passengers) to challenge them both. I had never raced an STI before (he claimed that he was stock with just a couple of bolt-ons), the guy in the Cobra said he had an intake, headers and exaust. Again, I have 01' AP1 with an AEM V2 CAI, test pipe, and the HKS Hi-Power cat-back. As I let of the gas and squeeze between the 2 cars; I am in 2nd gear at 6,000 RPM, the Cobra starts the race (the famous three honks of he horn) and we are off. The only car that I could see in my peripherals was the Cobra to my left and did not pay no attention to the STI as I could not see him at all. I was ahead of the Cobra and the STI as I shifted into the 3rd, midway through third I began to notice the STI's headlights in the passenger side mirror, and as I shifted into fouth; both cars were about 2 cars back. As I got midway through fourth; there were 3 cars back and I let off as I approached a red light, the guy in the STI pulls up next to me (upset) and saids to me "Why don't you try that shit with me out of the hole". My Fiancee and I laughed as the guy in the Cobra drove by giving me props.


2) I was going to work; two days after the encounter I had with the 06' STI and run across this Blue 05' STI heading East on the 836 just before the Miliam Dairy exit and there is quite a bit of traffic. As I begin to make my move to get into the far right lane.... he gets next to me and revs, it was obvious he had exaust and someting else (it sounded really nice). Anyway this guys gets right up on my ass (literally), as soon as I had a opening I punched it and switched lanes and he followed. I started in second as I did with the 06' (seems to be best gear to start from with the STI) I pull ahead of him by two cars but he closed the gap to a car and a half, then a car, and he could not gain anymore so we shut down and he gave me a thumbs up as he drove by.

3) Again, I was going to work (6/14/06) and this time I instigate this Black 06' STI coming out of the Bird Road toll plaza, I wait for him (in 2nd 6,000 RPM/top down) and initiate the start of he race, I pull ahead by 2 and a half cars; possibly three by middle of fourth gear. Just about the same results with the previous encounter with the other 06' STI. I am very proud of my 89,000 mile BITCH.

Wow. Going by this I would imagine the AP1s trap well over 103-104 (or more to beat a bolt-on STi)? Good runs.

 

wow, you were able to beat the untouchable Sti? good runs and a VERY typical outcome from the speeds at which you raced. i have has about the same more or less with sti's. with the vf39 they are done after 100. period. no of course with a reflash and other goodies the sti will leave you even at high speeds, but if fun to catch them in the early stages of modding.

 

I am pretty sure from the hole they would kill me, but hey NA vs turbocharged not bad at all. Who knows; maybe I have what they call a Wednesday motor....LOL. I am just in love with the S2000 it is an awesome machine. Thanks for the comments.

I have the same too. LOL, getting my Mugen header installed soon. Good runs! My g/f would never let me race when she is in the car. Your wife rocks!
