If the driver of the vette was THAT bad, he deserved to lose to a stock S. Next time maybe he'll take it off cruise control. He was hitting the little "increase speed" button on the steering wheel while "racing".

I'll put it this way: A Toyota Avalon (think big camry) with an auto and V6 traps about what a stock S (what the OP drives) traps in the 1/4, and you think you can take a C5??? I love my car, but c'mon, let's think about it for a second.
avalon weights over 3500lbs with only 268hp, 248ft-lb. It won't hit 60mph for at least 6.5 seconds. I don't know where you're getting the trap speed from, but I have a difficult time believing it.. not to mention the S would destroy it on the highway.. ask me how I know.

Huh?!? No, what should have happened is the S getting walked especially as those higher speeds. Maybe your used to your modded S being very quick, but stock for stock, roll, or dig the S is going to loose. I know there are alot other factors, that should be in this equations, but car vs. car the S will should always loose...sorry!

Now on to driver error. This should all but be eliminated in this race because they are going from a roll, which takes the launch quality out of the equation. All the driver has to do is mash the gas and go, shift gears if manual. The LS1 engine's are strongest in the range that the OP stated he ran. These engine's pull very hard all the way up to about 145/150mph unless modified. I know this because I have an LS1 equipped GTO that pulls an S pretty good uptop.

I know anything happens on the streets, and cars beat cars that idealy they shouldn't. Thats why I stated that he was lucky. I mean maybe he caught the driver off gaurd and got a nice jump on him, which the vette couldn't close the entire distance before he shut down(although he should have), maybe the vette was an LT1 and was a case of mistaken identity by the OP, who knows.

On average stock for stock, both cars being driven by good drivers, the vette in that era was a tenth, to two tenths quicker, with a trap speed of around 7mph quicker through the 1320. I'm not sure what mine runs through the 1/4, haven't had the chance to take it up to beech bend raceway and try it out. Our cars with a good driver can achieve 60 in mid to high 5.XX's where theirs might knock off of a high 4.XX 0-60 with a talented driver.

thanks for the feedback.

A million things could have happened which would be why you beat a vette. The most stupid reason is "he wasn't trying." Please, who just short shifts in a race to make it seem like the other guy is faster
