Default 06 LS2 Corvette?

My boss has a 06 LS2 Corvette (Base model 400hp) its also an Automatic. He bust my balls all the time about how if I was a real man I would have a V-8.....and so on about my little "4 Banger." I just always tell him "Real men drive stick" and he hates to hear it...lol

I know he would eat me from a Dig, but would I have a chance or could I hang from a roll in 2nd or 3rd right around 6k?

This morning he pulled up behind me on the road just before our office. He began to pass ... Not ready for this, when I dropped a gear I was still out of Vtec around 5400-5600. By the time I hit Vtec he was already sitting with his rear wheel around my front wheel. Due to the office coming up rather quickly I let off (took it to about 8500), but I also feel like I was inching/stopped his walk for just a few seconds once Vtec kicked in.

I wouldn't call it a race, more just messing around. I really think he thought he was going to blow me away, he claims he didn't even mash the petal....The road we were on was a two lane road, he was definitely trying to show off. If you guys say he will still beat me thats cool, I just want to know by how much.

Opinions???????

No, not a chance in hell from any speed to any other.

They are in fact neck in neck with the C5 Z06's.

Sounds like your boss is just being an ass.

*edit* you cannot win unless you are S2000noovegas with a magical 275hp 3 mod S2000, a 9 second VW, years of track experience and a master mechanic. Then you would of course win.

You'll need a Turbo or Supercharger to keep up with a C6

Yeah, borrow a turbo'd S2000 running > 8 PSI and you might have a chance. Otherwise you need to avoid the bully or start talking about how much his ride cost...

steve is 50/50 today.
he is infact correct, i have raced 3 c6 vettes. dont go by my benchmark though my car eats spinach.
steve is on crack with thought that the c6 base is even close to the c5 Z. ive seen it in person so many times i cant count. so forget that idea. just like a 260 hp stock 02 gt stang, vs a 240 hp s2000. just cause they have close hp numbers, dont bet your wad that they are a close race. the s2k will put 3-5 cars from a roll.
same as the least ive seen, was 3, most was around 6 cars, that a c5 stock z06, put on a c6 base stock. most c6 base will run a low 13, some a 12.90. best c5 z06 will typically run a mid to low 12, some magical have run high 11s. close race on the street with conditions, but from a roll where you cant mess up, z06 is gone.

have a good hump day. dave

Also, your boss has a 06 Auto C6 which means that it has a 6 spd rather than the 4 spd that came in the 05s. Which means that it'll be even quicker from a roll than the A4s.

Edit: Oops, I meant C6
