Default 06 S vs RS4

before i head home i usually warm up the car by driving through side streets to get the temp bar above 4 bars before i head out on the freeway and it just so happens my route allows me to pass by the hang out of the local car clubs "fusion cafe". its very common every wed night to run into the 3 series club who i've had a few run ins on the way home but this night it was a new RS4 that made a left on clairemont/mercury while i was making a right on clairemont/mercury. at first i didn't know what kind of audi it was because i made the turn first and he was behind, but by the time we hit the next light he decided to top off 1st and 2nd gear and that's when i saw the RS4 badge with brand new paper plates and aftermarket exhausts.

Maps 1

at this point i was game for a little fun. we're over the 163/clairemont mesa blvd overpass heading towards the 163 north on ramp loop. i take the high turn in point hitting the road reflectors along the way while he takes the middle and we have a car distance between us. i hit the apex perfectly while he runs wide and we're in the loop, i'm taking the loop anywhere from 52-55mph in 2nd gear and when we hit exit point of the loop we're both on full throttle and within a few seconds the red lights flash, i shift quickly into 3rd and i notice he's not pulling away cause we still have 1 car difference, 78-79-80-red-red-shift into 4th.

*the map below is a little old cause the new entrance to the loop is 90 degree turn not 45 degree.

Map 2

from the exit loop to the 163N on-ramp its a little over 1/4 of a mile. 78-79-80-red-red shift into 5th and its still a one car difference, i didn't top out 5th because its pointless in the S but when i let off i was at 113mph and i still had about a 1.25 1.50 car difference between us and of course he still kept going.

Map 3

he did manage to slow back down for me to pass him at 70 mph while we got near kearny vill rd but we never ran again. from when i passed him he stayed back about 8-10 car distance even when i slowed down to 65mph on the #3 lane from kearny villa to pomerado rd.

i thought the S did pretty well considering its stock but it could also be a few factors. one, his car still had paper plates so it probably wasn't broekn in. two, he might have been in the wrong gear exciting the loop (3rd) while i was in the right gear (2nd). three, the car had limo tint so i couldn't see if he had more than one passenger while i had none.

RS4s are reported to run better after the first 5000 miles.

Nice run!

the RS4's are no joke. definitely packing enough power under the hood. the R8's use the same motor.
