07 S2k vs 07 SI
Sorry for the long Post in advance:
So I'm coming home from 2007 S200 Homecoming.
Me and the wife decided to take 1 north to Monterey (the most awesome drive of my life).
On one of those stretches where 1 and 101 overlap ( i believe it was around Santa Barbara) I see a brand new CIVIC SI with the Price Paper still and the rear window.
Apparently it was being driven by a dealer because he was driving the hell out of it and looked like a salesman.
So anyway i'm driving 85mph with the top down and my trunk completely filled with luggage, her purse, my camera equipment, and 2 TOY S2000's.
The Civic SI passes me on the right at about 90 mph, and i quickly react jump behind him and we pull back into the fast lane at about 100 mph.(there are 2 lanes in our direction)
Again this guy was driving the hell out of this SI i could smell and see the exhaust everytime he smashed the accel. pedal to the ground.
A small gap opens up in the slow lane and he guns it swerving quickly around the car that was in front of him in the Fast Lane. At this point i let him go cuz i really did not want to swerve in and out at 100 mph.
About 1 mile later i see the civic doing 70mph in the slow lane, he was waiting for me, as soon as i pass him he jumps behind me and is riding my ass. Obviously he wants to see how fast i am.
So about 30 sec later the fast lane opens up. At this point I'm going 70 mph and downshift to 4th gear right at 6000 rpm.
like i said he was riding my ass ( 2 car lengths behind me, from front bumper to front bumper, so 1 car length in between)
I cruise in 4th for about 3 seconds until the truck in front of me is completely out of the way and so he can downshift or prepare for the race.
So were Off.
By the end of 4th I had about 2 carlengths more. and by the top of 5th i got one more.
So at the end i was about 5 carlengths in front.
I shut down at 120mph and as i slowed down to around ~105 he flew by and did not even look at me. about 30 seconds later he made a U-turn as the center divide opened up apparently heading back to the Dealership.
Summary:
Fully loaded 07' S2k races a BRAND NEW 07' CIVIC SI from 70-120mph. Puts 3 carlengths on him.
When he first passed me up i was surprised how fast he was and how i could not close the gap. But at the same time i was thinking I'm in a fully loaded S2k with the top down and a passenger and i'm keeping up.
I was really happy with the outcome and believe alot was due the Starting in V-tec.
Also it is possible the the SI has not been broken in yet or the guy is not experienced in driving the vehicle.
As far as the drive up highway 1, it was the most amazing drive of my life (2nd time driving from LA to Monterey up highway 1 but first time in S2000). Maybe ill post on it later.

reminds me..
so my friend with an 07Si sedan tells me he`ll hang with me if not beat my stock01 ap1.
put atleast 4 cars on him every time by the end of third. these were 1gear rolls.
