my brother in law came to visit me in his 2012 WRX, i showed him a couple of fun roads in the area and we toyed with our cars a bit to see how they would compare. from a 40mph roll he slowly started to gain a lead but from a 20mph roll the s2000 gained a lead that i could maintain through quick shifting. unfortunately we didnt get to do a dead stop run, maybe next time though.

i was expecting the s2000 to not keep up as well as it did, considering the hp and torque numbers, but considering the wrx weight the results are reasonable.

both cars bone stock.

 

Thats nice to know that a stock s2000 can still keep up with cars that were designed 12 years later. He'll get you from a dead stop though

 

i figure he would have me from a dead stop... on the way back home we stopped at a gas station where a mazdaspeed3 was sitting, talked to the driver for a sec and he seemed cool. when we pulled out of the gas station onto a six lane highway the light was just switching to yellow so i slowed down to a stop in order for us to line up for a quick race but instead of slowing down the WRX and Speed3 gunned it... i was like WTF - would have been perfect set up.

 

i have a 02 too! and raced a 2012 too! get him from a 30mph roll first gear, you'll get him by 2-3 cars. thats what i did mehehe. but from 40 is a very bad roll for our cars unless your in first at like 8k....


i pulled on a wrx at 55mph which is about 7.5k or a little more than that and the tq will get him and hold him about a car. if you go from a highway roll in third at around 7k you'll get him for sure. the wrx's 4th gear is nothing compared to 1st 2nd and 3rd. and i think the awd system kills the top end not to mention its 5 speed. just be in your best gear at around 7.5k and you'll win. if he doesnt wana do it in that gear shame him! tell him your car is 10 years old, (blank) miles and a little 2.0 4 cylinder while hes BRAND NEW and 2.5 BOOSTED SUPER LOW MILES.

 

I actually have a 2012 blue wrx and a 2002 nfr s2k, and with me on the s and my bro in the wrx he did take me.....but not by much. Would definitely want to try the highway 55+ pulls, they sound promising.... My s can definitely still hang with most of the zippy cars of today so they're both staying with me for a while. (the s wil always be mine! haha ) Glad someone started this thread!
