Default 280 rwhp NA?

I was looking around at an "exotic" car dealer this weekend and came across an S2000 that the dealer claimed made 280 hp AT THE WHEEL (supposively dynoed). Of course I didn't see the dyno graph itself, but this sounded very fishy to me. As for mods, it had an exhaust, headers, CAI, and V-AFC (very cool flush driver side pillar mount). No internal mods, as far as I know...no cams, no porting... Can anyone tell me that this is even possibly legit? If it's not, I'd like to call the dealer on it for false advertising (I don't really want someone else to get screwed on an otherwise nice S2000) as I've has shady experiences with them in the past - they have nice cars to look at though personally I'd never buy anything from them.

Thanks...Eric

Maybe 280 at the flywheel. I think you were given some false information.

Just ask to see the dyno chart. If they are reluctant to show you, it is BS. Remind them that is false advertising, which is illegal in all 50 states, and call the state attorney general.

Blackmail is illegal, and I doubt any dealer would give you 30K+ to protect themselves from a fine of a couple grand. Just call the attorney general and let them nail the bastards for trying to take advantage of people.

280 at the wheels equates to roughly 322hp-336hp at the engine. I call total BS, and would challenge that dealer. So you are telling me with these basic mods a 100hp increase. Don't think so. You have some SC'ed S2K's that would be there, but not with the basic mods you are talking about.

Haha.. this sounds funny.... but its true .... reallly.. it is...

CAI = 10 rwhp
Headers = 10 rwhp
Exhaust - 10 rwhp
VAFC = 40 rwhp

but what you didn't account for was:

RAZO sticker = 5 rwhp
Mugen sticker = 5 rwhp
Powered by Honda sticker = 5 rwhp
Comptech sticker = 5 rwhp

All this accounts for another 80 rwhp which should put you right about in the range the dealer was talking about...

oh.. almost forgot to mention the tornado air thingy...

Haha.. this sounds funny.... but its true .... reallly.. it is...

FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!!!

heh, 280 rwhp on an S2K would require major compression, race gas, huge cams, etc, etc. It could be done (there are all motor B-series 2.0 liters making more), but I don't think it would be street driven and the engine build would cost a good $8-10k.

If the car really had 280 rwhp, it would be something special. The price would be correspondingly high.

What about all those dealers with ads for an S2000 claiming a V6? If challenged, could they successfully argue it was a typo? I have seen too many ads to believe every occurrence is due to unchecked ignorance or typos.
