Default 3000 Gt Vr4

I was just coming back from the night AutoX. Driving on
Westheimer when this white Mitsu 3000GT VR4 (the
'91-93 model, they had 300HP) pulls next to me.
We both have a passanger in our car. I'm doing
about 40mph, throw it down to 2nd as he punches it.
By the end of the 3rd I have about 1 car length on him.

On the next light, he pulls next to me and asks "how many
HP does that thing have?". I'm like "only 240". "240 heh?"
was his reply as he looks at his friend and smiles.

Now, I'm praying to God he doesn't want to run me from the
stoplight, because with his 4wd and my crappy launching
skills I know I'm toast.

Light turns green and I _slowly_ take of. I take it to about
6000RPM in first (about 25mph I think) and stay at that
speed. He matches my speed and punches it. His rear end
squats and his nose lifts about 10in - that thing has some
torque (and soft suspension ) I step on it
as well and start gaining slowly, and by the end of the 3rd
I again have about 1 car length on him. He shuts down and
takes the first right turn.

I go home a happy camper. Now, if I could just learn to drive
the damn thing properly...

Zoran.

Nice Kill. Those things are very easily modded (as with most turbo cars). I ran into one last night too, but he didn't want to race.

There are two fellas in my town with those cars, and their numbers are impressive for their weight, but they won't race me! Hate that.

A modded VR4 can be very fast. N2TRBL is one that is around town (he might have sold it by now, as he had planned to). He beat me even with my SC. His launch just stuck and he was gone, with a big lift of the front end. After that we stayed even, never had a chance to run him from a roll.

I had a '93 Stealth TT. These things weigh close to 4000#'s (the VR4's weighed a bit more due to the active aero hardware - both cars had the solenoid for the second exhaust tail pipe). The stock turbos DO spool up real fast and go like stink. The problem was that they had weak half shafts. Too many hard launches and they crack or snap altogether, especially if the road is very grippy. I didn't do too many of those.

The VR4's have a feautre called Active Aero. Thats why you saw his car dip like you did. The Spoiler comes up and the car drops a little when Active Aero is enabled. right N2TRBL??
