i was heading to the club last night at about 11 pm... cruising along the 180 and a clean, stock looking 350z convertible hops onto the onramp. it was kindof weird how he just pulled on and pullled up to me. but being ahead by maybe a 1/2 car i heard him gun his car until we were head to head... i looked over than started talking to my buddy and the guy punched it, but i was expecting it so i had already shifted into 3rd at about 70mph... instantainiously in i had pulled a good 3/4 car on him and then by the time i was in 5th gear i had about 2.5 cars on him. once i hit 6th i noticed that he was creaping slowly but i figured i had won already so i slowed down and got onto the 99 north.

from my last street encounter, if you all had read it, i had down shifted to fourth at 65mph and everyone was telling me i should've downshifted into 3rd, well this time i did that and it worked out great, stright into VTEC baby!! hahaha...

i never figured our little 4 cylinder cars were so fast!! i'm still learning and lovin it!!

ya depends on the driver of the the 350z

i raced my friends 350z from a 65 roll in 3rd gear everytime we raced i pulled him about 3 cars up to 120

but when i raced his brother he beat me by a bumper

driver makes all the difference in the world

 

yeah... good job. i wanna run against a z. How much of a difference is it than a mustang?

 

that's something i wouldn't mind trying!! i've been in the new mustang gt and they're pretty spiffy!! but i've never been in a z...

depends on the year. 99-04 mustang GT is a tad slower than our S and the 350z coupe.. 05 and newer GT is a bit faster than both. S vs 350z coupe is a very good race.. generally up to the driver and the setup.. i.e. if who can start where they make the right power.

 

350z should be dead even stock vs stock if both drivers are good

99-04gt the s will pull

05gt stock vs stock the s should lose if both drivers are good also

me i/e vs stock gt we were dead even

You said 65mph!? All I need is #5 gear (freeway) only (till the battle end!)

Unless I jump after him, otherwise most of the time we'll dead even at the beginning, but don't forget our AP2 #5/#6 gear ratio is really tallllllllll

 

it's nice to hear some honesty regarding the ol' 350z battles...normally you get at least one person on here saying that they have smoked every 350 they've ever raced.
the cars are matched very evenly on straight-line performance with maybe a smidge of a lead to the 350 from what i've seen.
