I know I wasn't involved in the race but it still amazed me, not only that this happened, but how close the mr2 was.

I decided to cruise our strip here in Hickory, NC tonight just to have something to do. I meet up with a friend and we're cruising when we see the 360 cruising as well. We do one pass down and back up and as we're turning around, with the 360 about 3 cars ahead, we see the mr2 along with some of his friends turn around in a parking lot and catch up to the 360. They launch at a stop light just for shits and we all think that's it. Well, we get to an intersection just above the interstate and we see the mr2 jump 2 lanes to get in to the turn lane, and the 360 do the same. Well, the mr2's friends jump so we're like, oh shit we need to watch this. It's obvious what's going on.

We follow them to the interstate and watch this unfold. First run was at a 40 roll and the mr2 takes him all the way to 145. The second run was from a 60 roll and the 360 took him by a car and a half. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Just thought I'd post.

Apparently. I never knew they were THAT beast though.

 

The turbo offered for the US was crappy. USA never recieved the revised engine which came with a much better turbo. My friend had a 91 turbo with full bolt-ons and switch his turbo with the JDM turbo...that thing is a beast. Awhile back while following him on the freeway, this Mustuang cobra (02-03) cruised up and my friend instigated the race, my friend was able to walk slowly away from it. Another friend of mine who also has a MR2 with the same set-up ran a 13.0@110mph at the track....and it's a little slower than our other friends MR2.

 

Lol, we used to have an MR2 with a GT35R, like any car with the right amount of money they can be made extremely fast.

 

I'd take the Ferrari in red.

b) MR2s can be very fast when modded (im mr obvious i guess)

 

a bit clarification there is no cobra's in 02...i think you were referring to the terminators which were supercharged from the factory from 03-04, grossly underrated, and make mad power if you just sat there and stared at it.

i used to have a '91 mr2 turbo, car was just awesome fun to drive. awesome fun.

my friend's 93 usdm mr2 turbo just got MBC and FCD installed, if i could i wanna run him to see how close he is to me now...a stock s2000 with aem v2.

 

modena's trapped 112-114mph i think? for an mr2 turbo to trap at that speed doesn't really take much...

 

I spanked a F355 Spyder when I had my 91 MKII-T. Those things are just wicked fast with mods.
