'91 M5 vs. S2000 (Los Altos, CA)
I was on my way home from work yesterday and, for once, had pole position at the light at Foothill and Main Street in Los Altos. I was kind of day dreaming while waiting for the light to change but fully intended to briskly accelerate the 1/4+ mile to Edith where I turn right. The light changed and I left quickly but not at full throttle. I hear this revving next to me (on my left) and say to myself, "that sounds like a Honda". I then noticed the distinct yellow nose of an S2000 out of the corner of my eye. Ooh, this could be fun, and I nailed it. He pulled half a car before I really got in my powerband (5000) and then I touched the rev limiter at 7300rpm (doh). I grabbed second and lost a bit as he didn't have to shift yet (damn Hondas) but he gained a bit back when he went to second. It was pretty steady from there until about 80 where my car really hits its sweet spot in third but he had to slow for the light and I had to make a right turn.
Really pretty even and I don't know if I could of made up that 1/2 car until well past 80mph. It was nice to get a nice little adrenalin rush before having my first glass of wine after work.

Nice Schumi lean, from both driver and instructor, in your LS picture.
(Schumi = Michael Schumacher, who is one of few great race car drivers that actually leans his head into the turn. Just in case you didn't know)

PT is kind of nasty though, don't you think. Nice move in the pitlane this last weekend. He always is the first to complain when someone does that to him. BTW, noticed on the CART site they claim to be only 1 second off Schumi on that track. They only cite 2000 times however. JPM ran a 1:15 in the F1 race this year and qualified with a 1:12 vs. 1:20's for the race last weekend. No surprise given the fact the Champ cars weigh almost 400lbs more.
