Default 92 interceptor 5.0 vs Ap1

I just came back from technical training school in the Air Force to visit my family for a couple days before I have to drive out to california to my first assigned base. My friend just got a hold of a black 1992 mustang interceptor (ex state trooper car) with full exhaust, pulleys, 3.55 gear, intake and god knows what else but it sounded like a beast. Anyway he kept cracking jokes about my s2k like it was a "miata with a little engine that could"... etc. I go out driving with him in his car and he wouldn't shut up about how his car would so beat my ass and everything. I finally got sick of his crap and told him its on when we get back to his place. I take it to I'm gonna lose because I felt his car had more power than mine and could walk on me pretty bad. We are running side by side at like 15 mph and 3 beeps from my horn and we both take off. We were even in 1st, then 2nd I started pulling on him, 3rd- had 1.5 cars on him and kept pulling, 4th multiple cars... 5th- little ford headlights in my mirror. We did it again from the stop. I drop it at around 8,000 so it doesn't bog down and stays above 6200 and I immediately jumped a car on him in first and the rest gets worse. We go again from a roll on and its the same story as the first. We pull into his house and he gets out of his car says nothing and marches into his house. I asked him what was wrong and he tells me... "Dude shut the f%$k up, I just go beat by a Honda!" I told him I thought you said it was a miata. I laughed my ass off the whole night and wouldn't stop bothering him about it. He never said anything about the s2k again. I felt pretty good the rest of the night after that.

Tell your friend that my neighbor's 1985 ford tempo (busted exhaust, amidst many other problems) is also loud as hell, but is it fast? Well, I'm not sure it would complete a 1/4 mile run. Thus, loudness of car doesn't guarantee speed...when will people learn!?
In any case, good kill.

well i've heard some loud mustangs that are also very fast. fox bodies are a mixed bag. most are either fast, or very very slow. Interceptors really aren't anything special, if anything they probably have high miles and have been beat to death.

State Trooper Mustangs are all Automatics I believe. I used to own an 89 LX Mustang and the AOD transmission is terrible for performance. I put 3.73 gears in just to keep up with stock 5 speeds.

The LX 5 liter 5 speed stock was around 14.2 1/4 mile car and 0-60 around 6.2-6.5. Comparable 1/4 mile, but the AOD cars were probably lucky to break mid 14's even with performance gears. Plus, they lost a lot up top with the gear change. Very little acceleration after 90 mph with AOD and gears.

These cars were built terribly and would rust, and burn oil after modified. Basically they were fast for their time, but today are beaten up pieces of garbage for the most part. Obviously there are some very fast one's still going, but that's the same for any car.

The ones the Texas DPS used were Stick with a Clutch that required a Thigh as big as a Redwood to push it down
