He's talking about the previous generation body style, so I said it didn't have to be an auto GT with fake Cobra emblems to be beaten, as it could've been a manual GT just as well.

I think your story is really confusing a lot of people.
03-04 Cobras = 390 hp SC V8
99-01 Cobras = 320 hp V8
98 & before Cobras = 305 hp
When you say 01-04 Cobra at no time did they have even close to 290 hp.
