I dont think that the driver of the S2000 was on it hard or the M3 was heavily modded. Those cars pull a low 14 quarter stock, and only because of their high torque to ponypower ratio. With a curb weight as high as they have and it being the 4 door. I think its a sick joke. I this were an E46 M3 I wouldnt be so questionable about it. But yes I will follow suit with you guys............WHATEVER.

Not enough information, frayed.

I have several stories of me personally beating manualE36 M3 coupes - if you call a car length to 130mph going straight for all three of them a legit win.

Like the Boxster S v. the S2000, the E36 M3 v. the S2000 is up to the driver.

Notice that most M owners are enthusiasts first, BMW owners second.

Also notice that for whatever reason many people here are S2000 owners first and enthusiasts second.

People on the s2k-related boards tend to be a wee bit sensitive. A bit too defensive.

In the year that I owned my s2k, I noticed that the boards seemed to be full of people needing to prove that 'my car is just as good as a Boxster S, but cheaper.' People with an unnatural need to run countless gtech runs. Stuff like that.

Kind of like the S4 guys with an unnatural need to measure their self-worth by how many bimmers they crushed on the way to work.

Specific case in point. I was on a local mailing list of s2k owners here in central tx. I was included in a message right after I sold my s2k. I replied with 'oh, i'd love to get together with you guys although I no longer have an s2k. maybe even fun to swap cars with a willing particpant for fun during the drive.'

Response: I was pulled off the list. Never got an email again. Unfortunate, b/c I'll probably buy an s2k again, when I can afford a weeked car.

Don't want to get into a flame war, as the foregoing is just my experience.
