Default Anyone encounter a Lexus SC400

Driving home tonight a SC400 wanted to race but I don't know alot about them so I backed off. If I remember they have a V8? Anyone race one and what was the outcome?

The SC400, if I remember right, does have a V8. They are quite heavy, but they are fast. If this SC400 were properly maintained, and only slightly modded, this would not be an easy kill...in fact, I know a few friends that would bet against you! It would have been a good race, I haven't been able to run one yet, but I will post the outcome, win or lose, when I find one!

An SC400 fast? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they're 7.2 sec. 0-60 cars, at best. The auto's really soft, and the car weighs damn near 3800 lbs. Even modded, they're not gonna go anywhere quickly.

Now, Clint's SC300TT in Houston, now that's fast...

SC400's really aren't that fast at all. The only chance one has against you is from a stop, but it'd be all over as soon as you hit VTEC. The newer SC400's had 300hp but the older ones had around 270hp. They're too soft to be racing in stock form.

Clint's car is fast but how much $$$ did he spend to get his car that fast.

Does anyone have a quoted quarter time for the sc400? I saw one smoking lots of cars, but I am not sure just how modded it was...

The one you seen smoking cars is Clint's 2JZ-GTE SC300. That car is a beast....

Otherwise, stock for stock, S2000 should walk the SC400 from stop and from roll. Just remember, the SC300, GS300, etc all use the 2JZ-GE engine (N/A Supra engine)...turbo kits and supercharger kits aren't that expensive anymore...

We are trying to get a turbo kit going for the 1UZ-FE engine...

I have raced the SC400 in my integra and I barely beat it by half a car to 100mph from a stop. All I have is intake, header and exhaust. I would probably get beat by the new SC430. So this should shed some light on what your S2K's would do to a SC400!

Lexus of Mission Viejo (our dealer for the better half's car) has a turbo SC300 drag car in their showroom. I wish I could remember the stat's but I can tell you this... wow! that puppy was bad ass. Of course, it isn't even remotely street legal nor does it share all that much in common with an everyday SC, but it was cool to see anyway.
